At the mouth of Kelsey Creek we found a cooperative Peregrine Falcon perched.

But when we got too close, it took off.

The shorebirds scattered when the Peregrine took off, but the pelicans and cormorants were unperturbed.

Then Lena Yakzan walked out to count the pelicans, "two-three-two."

In this group of pelicans we saw one with a red wing-tag number 913. It turns out that this pelican was tagged on July 31 of this year as a juvenile too young to fly at Minidoka National Wildlife Refuge in Cassia County, Idaho by Dr. Rex Sallabanks of the Idaho Fish and Game.
